Description of Practice

Tat is a mediator and arbitrator based in Singapore. He has been accredited by numerous distinguished institutions, including SMC, SCCDR, FJC, CEDR, NMAS, KLRCA, HKMALL and Regent’s University London (School of Psychotherapy & Psychology). He is also an IMI certified mediator. Tat mediates a wide range of cases. His cases have involved disputes relating to businesses, shareholders, partnerships, community, construction, healthcare, intellectual property, real estate, employment, family and matrimonial matters. Notable cases include multi-party claims, disputes involving international parties as well as disputes involving assets in excess of US$200 million. He has also conducted workshops and delivered negotiation and mediation trainings for judges, lawyers, professionals, business executives and lay persons in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Fiji and Qatar. He is an assessor in the accreditation of mediators and an expert / judge in the IBA-VIAC Mediation and Negotiation Competition and the ICC International Mediation Competition. He is Chairperson of the Society of Mediation Professionals (Singapore) and Secretary-Treasurer of the Mediation Committee of the IBA. He has contributed to several publications relating to his areas of practice, including Singapore Civil Procedure (Thomson Reuters Sweet & Maxwell); Mediation in Singapore: A Practical Guide (Thomson Reuters Sweet & Maxwell); Dispute Resolution Global Guide of Practical Law (Thomson Reuters); and Mediation Practice – 8 Cultures, 16 Cases, 128 Creative Solutions (2016) (ICC).


Tat holds an LL.B (Hons) and MBA / LL.M from NUS and MSc (Construction Law & Arbitration) (With Merit, Davis Langdon & Seah Medal) from King’s College London, University of London and NUS. He is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He received advanced training on negotiations and mediation at the Pepperdine University School of Law and Harvard Law School.
