Description of Practice

Ms. Vallerand is a private dispute resolution specialist with an extensive background and practice in a number of areas of dispute resolution (mediation/arbitration/facilitation/investigation and consulting). Her practice includes, but is not limited to, work in family, divorce, gay/lesbian/transgendered and probate/guardianship issues, as well as business, contract, employment (both corporate and non profit) and personal injury cases.

Professional Background

Ms. Vallerand brings extensive and varied background to her work, having engaged in the private and non profict law practice over 30 years with emphasis on trial work involving family, custody, juvenile, employment, civil rights and personal injury cases. She had also served as an adjunct professor with the U of O law School as Director of the Domestic Violence Clinic and was the Administrator of the Survivors Justice Center for six years. A member of Oregon Mediation Association and Oregon State Bar, she has served as Pro Tem Judge in Lane County Circuit Courts anda State Hearings Officer.


Ms. Vallerand started mediation and arbitration work while still engaged in the private practice of law. She left private law practice in 1996, obtained extensive training and has limited her work exclusively to ADR since 1998. She has handled a large number of private ADR cases, and has served as a volunteer for Community Mediation Services since 1999.

Having received training in various mediation styles she is available to provide the approach to best serve client needs, from facilitative/transformational to evaluative, including Evaluation and Settlement Conferences. Experienced in both face to face and shuttle approaches, she has mediated with and without legal counsel present.


Fees are $150 per hour with consideration given to reduced fees in appropriate cases.

Other Information

Ms. Vallerand has worked with a number of organizations committed to appropriate dispute resolution. She is a member of the Oregon State Bar ADR section and the Lane County Bar ADR section. She has also served on the Oregon Dispute Resolution Commission's committee to review funding and fees with local Community Dispute Resolution Centers.
